Columbia International College has been nominated for a 2015 Hamilton Community News Readers’ Choice Award. The Hamilton Community News is an online community newspaper for Hamilton and the surrounding area and its Readers’ Choice Awards recognize the best businesses within the region.

On February 19, Columbia International College held its fourth annual Town Hall meeting. Staff and faculty members came together to learn about the school’s upcoming initiatives and attended a health and wellness seminar.

Later this week, the Guidance Department will be holding one of two time management workshops designed to help students succeed in their academic and personal lives;

Students attending the workshop will benefit from learning simple time management strategies including setting deadlines and asking for help when needed. They will also learn skills such as:

Columbia and York University expand partnership

Columbia International College is pleased to announce that it has expanded the conditions of its University Partners® agreement with York University. In addition to the existing four designated entrance scholarships ($2000 each) and priority attention from York’s International Admissions Officers, Columbia students will be offered three added unmatched entrance conditions:

1. IELTS/TOFEL waived for students with:
• 80% or above in ENG4U

30 Hour Famine returns to Columbia

30 Hour Famine

Columbia International College is once again gearing up to host its 30 Hour Famine event on Saturday, March 28, 2015.

In support of World Vision, the event will raise money and awareness to help end poverty and world hunger. Students who sign up to participate will be asked to raise $50, fast from food for 30 hours, and attend the educational event March 28.

Who Can Sign Up?
• Maximum of 200 students
• Lottery style sign up (lucky draw) – due to high popularity

The Guidance Department would like to remind students about some important key dates coming up in February and March;

9 - Progress Reports / Mid-term reports for 8-week courses

9 – 13 - 70% Fee Deferral - Students can withdraw from a course and defer 70% of the balance tuition fee (Certain Conditions Apply)

12- Last day for 8-week students to withdraw with no mark shown

20 – 4-week ESL mid-term

4 - Final exams for 8-week courses

Columbia, get ready to show your spirit!

Student Leaders and Student Development Staff on Wacky Day

From February 9 – 13 we will be celebrating our school and showing our school pride during Spirit Week!

Students will be encouraged to participate in interactive activities and challenges throughout the week to show their school spirit. They will also take part in morning activities each day, in both the Ainsliewood and Maple buildings, where a group of classes will compete against one another for a small prize.
