Sodexo team wins national awards

Columbia International College would like to congratulate members of our Sodexo team on being nominated among the best employees in the country.

Recently, members of our food services team were named Gold winners in the 2015 Spirit of Sodexo Awards for Canada. The national Awards recognize those “who through their commitment and dedication personify Sodexo’s unique values of Service Spirit, Team Spirit and Spirit of Progress.” We are proud to announce that our Sodexo team received Gold in two out of three categories:

Preparing for final exams

On Friday, June 26th, Columbia students currently enrolled in the summer semester will write their final exams. As exams can be a stressful and nerve-wracking experience, we want students to stay focused and positive while studying and while writing exams. Here are a few tips we hope will help students succeed;

1. Start early – Don’t wait until the night before your exam to start studying. You should already be reviewing your notes and making your own personal study guide. If you haven’t started studying yet, STOP procrastinating and open your books!

Columbia honoured its Junior Middle School (JMS) students on June 18th during the annual Year End Awards Ceremony.

The Ceremony highlighted the students’ accomplishments from the past year and recognized those who excelled in both academics and extracurriculars. Along with receiving their Certificates of Completion, students were also presented with Residence Certificates.

Columbia named top fundraiser for The Terry Fox Foundation

Columbia International College would like to thank and congratulate its students, staff and school community for their contributions and participation during the school’s annual Terry Fox Run.

As a result of the commitment of our school community, we have been named one of the top 50 fundraisers for 2014 in Ontario! We were ranked 7th out of all other participating high schools in the province by raising $23,086.73.

Columbia recognized for its business contributions in the City of Hamilton

Columbia International College was recently recognized for its business contributions to the City of Hamilton. Yesterday, Executive Director, Mr. Clement Chan, accepted a Business Appreciation Award on behalf of the school during a City Council meeting last night at Hamilton’s City Hall.

Columbia was recognized in the Large Business Category for Ward 8 and was presented with a plaque by Mayor Fred Eisenberger and Councillor Terry Whitehead.

Ms. Klodt’s grade 12 biology students have been busy discovering the world of natural sciences and living organisms through a series of experiential learning opportunities.
