What a week packed of information, fun and love! Last week our students attended University Fair and tonight is the Valentine Day dance. Spirit Week was a blast and this Friday, on the last day of Spirit Week, our students and Staff will be wearing their national costumes/colours. To see how diverse we are, take a look at our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Columbia.International.College).

For the upcoming week, several events and trips will take place to keep the excitement level high. Watching a hockey game, volunteering in a festival and creating awareness for issues around the world are just a little snippet of our students’ lives here in Columbia.

Hamilton Bulldogs Game
Ice hockey is part of Canadian’s culture, and our students are going to be part of this experience as they attend the Hamilton Bulldogs Game this Saturday! The Hamilton Bulldogs are Hamilton very own professional hockey team, who are part of the American Hockey League. This Saturday, Hamilton Bulldogs will go head to head against St. John’s Icecaps. Our students will not only have fun, but they will also learn about sportsmanship, fair play and teamwork.

Hamilton Kid’s Fest
The Hamilton Kid’s Fest will take place this coming weekend from February 18 – 20, 2012. This festival will take place in the Canadian Heritage Warplane Museum. One of the main attractions includes Central Ontario’s largest indoor inflatable show. Our students will act as volunteers in the festival as part of being involved in the community.

30-Hour Famine
Learning and preparing students to be a Global Citizen is part of Columbia’s Total Care Education System. Taking part in the 30-hour famine teaches our students to be aware of issues around the world, such as hunger, poverty etc. Our students will take part in world-wide fund raiser to help save lives around the globe. They will raise awareness through the fund raising activities, and they will learn that they can change someone’s lives by participating in the 30-hour Famine event.
