As summer gives way to fall, the school year is only just heating up. Following a fun-filled Orientation Week, students began classes on August 16, 2010. There was a palpable mix of excitement and anticipation in the air during the first week of classes.
Returning students exchanged hellos and summer holiday stories with friends both old and new. For the newest additions to the Columbia family, the first week saw them navigating the school’s halls to get to their different classes with friends they made during Orientation Week.
The Guidance Office, College Store and Administration Office were some of the most popular spots, of the week as students added or changed courses and collected their textbooks. The Study Room was also quite busy with students hard at work and some receiving assistance from school tutors.
One of the week’s highlights was a new versus returning students soccer match where the students showed their athletic prowess on the Ainsliewood Field. Dozens of students stayed after school to support their peers and loud cheers erupted with each goal and piece of fancy footwork. The new students won the match with a score of 6-4.
If the first week is anything to go by this promises to be another great semester at Columbia. We look forward to seeing it unfold with bated breath.
