On Thursday, February 16, 2012, Columbia held a Top Subject Prizes award ceremony for the Junior Middle School (JMS). The Head of the JMS department, Mrs. Denice Garell-Teti, opened the ceremony by acknowledging the students for their hard work and achievement since August 2011.
Excitements started to build up as Mrs. Garell-Teti handed out each medal one by one to the winners. The Top Subject winners have received a mark of 90% and above for the subject that they excelled in. A sense of pride was heightened and filled the room as some students received more than one prize.
As the event approached the end, Columbia’s Head of Senior High School Department, Mrs. Nancy Baker congratulated all the winners for their accomplishment in the Middle School. She foresees that they will be able to transition well into High School.
A big thank you to all the teachers and houseparents who have helped to educate the students, supporting them academically and emotionally as well as enriching their lives with wisdom and knowledge so that they can be a well-rounded student.
