Exploring Some of the World’s Top Universities

With the Fall Semester just beginning, students are already thinking about university. Every year, 100% of our graduates are accepted to university. At Columbia we are committed to providing each student with the tools to maximize their potential and achieve their dreams. As part of this commitment, Columbia’s University Placement Office organized Orientation Week trips to York, McMaster and Waterloo Universities from August 10-13.

Parents and students alike had a chance to explore the campuses of Columbia’s University Partners®. During the trips there were opportunities to:

  • meet top university officials including;
  • Robert Tiffan – Vice-President Students, York University
  • Peter Smith – Associate Vice-President (academic), McMaster University
  • Ian Goulden – Dean Faculty of Mathematics, University of Waterloo
    • go on campus tours
    • attend presentations where university staff were available to answer parent and student questions
    • meet alumni and current students

    The trips were greatly enjoyed and many parents and students were very impressed with what they saw.
    “I think the university trips are an excellent idea. I would never have thought of York as an option for my child, but after visiting the campus it’s definitely become a choice. After attending Orientation Week, I am very encouraged that I made the right decision sending my son to Columbia,” said Ronke Osikoya, a mother from Nigeria following a trip to York University.

    We are proud to call York, McMaster and Waterloo our University Partners® and we thank them for their hospitality.
