Columbia International College

Columbia’s University Fair is an annual event that allows students to access a number of University Representatives and a wide array of information about university options on a single day. All students are encouraged to attend the fair and gain valuable experience and knowledge. In this event, students would be able to find out about admission, university life and programs that they are interested in. Non-graduating students are more than welcome to join the event, and to start gathering information on all the different universities.

“This is such an exciting and unique opportunity for us!” said Irene Xia, a graduating student and a prefect, “Us, students, should be taking advantage to ask questions about the different program and admission requirements. It is such a special event because I’m able to talk face-to-face to the University Representatives and get answers to all of my questions”.

Booths were set up in our school’s gym, and our student leaders were there to assist the University Representatives to set up. Students will be going around the gym, receiving information, brochures and to converse with University Representatives one-on-one.

A representative from York University, Ms. Amber Holiday, said that Columbia’s University Fair has an amazing number and the diversity of students, as well as the excellent quality that Columbia’s students have once they attended the University.

Many of Columbia’s students immediately flocked to the Gym as soon as the fair started. Grace Felicia, with a big smile on her face, shared “last year, I attended this fair as a non-graduating student. The fair really helps me to get myself prepared for this year, since I’m graduating soon. I was able to get help with my application, I prepared my portfolio early and it really opens up my mind to do more research about the Universities that came to the fair. I even considered Universities that I would have not thought about if I didn’t attend the fair.”

Over at the McMaster University booth, Ms. Candy Hui praised how well-organized the fair was and how helpful our students were. Her words of advice to our students were to do research early about the programs and courses that students are interested in, and most importantly to prepare all the necessary documents in advanced.

This year annual fair ended with a great success. A big thank you to all the universities that participated in the fair, and to the University Placement Office for putting on such a great event.
