The Guidance Department is reminding students of important upcoming dates in September and October:

September
15 - Progress Report /Mid Term Reports / Final Reports

14-18 (70% Fee Deferral )-Students can withdraw from a course and defer 70% of the balance tuition fee. Refer the fee deferral policy.

18 - Last day to withdraw from a 8-week course with no mark shown.

21-25 - Full ASEP Survey

Summer semester tutors now available

Summer semester tutors now available

Beginning today -Monday, May 25- school tutors will be available in school and in residence for students enrolled in summer semester classes.

School tutors will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Ainsliewood building on weekdays. Tutoring in residence will be offered Monday to Thursday from 7 to 10 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Course Information Fair

Earlier this week, from March 30th to April 1st, Columbia International College held a Course Information Fair in the Living Wall Lounge.

Each day, teachers from different departments were in the Marketplace from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to discuss the courses offered in their department; Arts, English, Science, Math, Business, Humanities and Social Sciences, ESL and International Languages. Students were able to review course materials, speak with teachers, and explore academic opportunities for their next semester of study.

Course change policy

All registered students for the fall semester (201405) can make course changes at the Guidance office until August 5th.

Please note that returning students will not be able to meet their counsellors during orientation days from August 6th – 14th.

Returning students are requested to attend all their classes on the first day of school and will not be permitted to make any course changes on the first day.

Time management workshops

Time management workshops

Later this week, the Guidance Department will be holding one of two time management workshops designed to help students succeed in their academic and personal lives;

Date: Friday, February 27 & Monday, March 2
Time: Periods 2, 3 & 4
Location: Guidance Centre

Topics of discussion
Students attending the workshop will benefit from learning simple time management strategies including setting deadlines and asking for help when needed. They will also learn skills such as:

Columbia students were encouraged to attend a variety of Career Information Sessions this week as they begin to think about and plan for their future.

Held in the Maple building auditorium, the sessions were designed to give students a better look at careers in their fields of interest:
• Engineering and Science
• Social Science and Humanities
• Business and Math

Columbia International College offers over 50 academic courses to junior and senior students.

To ensure students are aware of all their options, and to help them choose their courses, Columbia hosted a Course Confirmation Fair.

On April 2, teachers from all departments set up booths in the Ainsliewood Gym to highlight the various courses offered in their respective disciplines; Arts, English, Science, Math, Business, Humanities and Social Sciences, ESL and International Languages.

Guidance department holds time management workshops

Columbia’s Guidance Department is holding a series of Time Management Workshops throughout the week (Feb. 25-27) to help students succeed in their academic and personal lives.

The Workshops are designed to prepare students for university life and help them to:
• develop good time management skills
• stay healthy in body and mind
• enhance personal and student life
• manage and prioritize daily life
• understand personal work schedules

Earlier today, students attended a Course Confirmation Fair presented by the Guidance Department. Held in the Ainsliewood Gym and the Living Wall Lounge, the Fair was designed to inform both new and returning students on the academic programs available to them in the upcoming semester. Along with learning about the courses offered at Columbia, students had the opportunity to review course materials and speak with teachers and the Guidance Department about their academic future. We hope everyone enjoyed the fair!

Ontem, o Departamento de Orientação do Columbia realizou uma Feira de Confirmação de Curso no Ginásio Ainsliewood no Salão parede viva. Alunos novos e antigos participaram da Feira para aprender sobre suas opções acadêmicas para os semestres seguintes. Professores de cada departamento acadêmico estavam a postos para discutir cursos individuais e responder às perguntas dos alunos.
